Joe Max Emminger

My paintings are always a surprise to me. I don't set out to say something specific; the ideas unfold as I paint. A lot of times my art ends up being about my life, my family, things I see and hear. I also try to leave room in my paintings: room for them to breathe and live in the world, room for other people to move around in them.
