Join us for the Premier Member Reception of Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence, from the Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston at the Seattle Art Museum.
This major exhibition organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) takes a new approach to the work of versatile artist, Katsushika Hokusai, pairing more than 100 of his woodblock prints, paintings, and illustrated books from the MFA’s renowned collection with over 200 works by his teachers, students, rivals, and admirers. Explore Hokusai’s impact through the centuries and around the globe, including on artists Yoshitomo Nara, Chiho Aoshima, and Helen Frankenthaler.
The evening includes light hors d’oeuvres, wine, and access to all galleries. A brief exhibition overview with José Diaz, SAM’s Susan Brotman Deputy Director for Art, will take place at 6:30 pm in the Plestcheeff Auditorium. Advance tickets are required and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Should this reception sell out, please email premier@seattleartmuseum.org to be placed on the waitlist.
