SAM Remix returns to the Seattle Art Museum this spring! Since 2008, SAM has invited the best and brightest of Seattle’s creative community to produce one-of-a-kind art experiences at this signature nighttime program.

Galleries will be accessible from 7–10 pm. Music and performances will continue in the Brotman Forum until 11 pm.

Music & Performances

SAM Performs: SuperCoze
7 - 8 pm: Brotman Forum
SuperCoze is the vibrant indie surf rock brainchild of Cody Choi, a queer Korean-American singer-songwriter from Seattle WA. SuperCoze released their debut album Rainy Day Sunshine – a vibrant blend of dreampop and surf rock with shimmering synths and beachy slide guitars – in March 2020 at the height of early pandemic pandemonium. SuperCoze is known for emanating a colorful candy-coated image while delving into more difficult conversations about mental health in their lyrics. Choi is also the founder of So Dreamy Fest and Coze Creations.

SAM Performs: Mod Carousel
8:15 - 9:30 pm: Brotman Forum
Mod Carousel is an award-winning multidisciplinary burlesque collective featuring the talents of Paris Original, Trojan Original, the Luminous Pariah, and Moscato Sky. Mod Carousel has performed and produced regularly since its founding in 2010. With over 50 international shows in Europe and Australia, and countless US performances under their belt, they show no signs of stopping their antics anytime soon.

9:45 - 11 pm: Brotman Forum
HYPERPOPPERS kick-started his career opening for a virtual Brazilian Hyperpop Festival with Allie X and Ru Paul's Drag Race season 10 winner, Aquaria. Now, he's emerged from the cyber world to help create an IRL queer party called HYPER at Cafe Racer, DJing alongside local sensation Jane Don't. Some say his sound has brought together pop kids and rave kids alike—nostalgic futurism that continues to raise the BPM and our expectations. HYPERPOPPERS is inspired by the pioneers of hyperpop, SOPHIE and A.G. Cook, as well as the queen of future pop herself, Charli XCX, who helped make the sound more mainstream. You can catch him dancing to his own music, and hyping the crowd wherever he goes. HYPERPOPPERS is a guaranteed good time.

Art & Activities

SAM Creates: Create Within
7 - 10 pm: Arnold Boardroom
Capture your aura photo with Color of Our Energy Through our bio-feedback camera, you get to see a visualization of what your aura and vibes look like in the form of color around you on a keepsake Polaroid picture. Our aura colors can (and do) change with our life stories, emotions and situations. This experience looks to capture and document these moments, empowering participants to understand their auric states, fostering deeper awareness as universal beings - all while expanding the individual and collective consciousness.

7 - 10 pm

In Gallery Happenings

SAM Creates: Poetry with Paul Nelson & Samar Abulhassan
7 - 9:45 pm: Third Floor Foyer
Step into the world of spontaneous poetry with poets, Paul Nelson and Samar Abulhassan. Sitting in front of their manual typewriters and fueled by audience prompts, the poets will craft one-of-a-kind keepsake poems.

Poet/interviewer Paul E. Nelson founded Cascadia Poetics LAB & Cascadia Poetry Festival. Books include: Cascadian Prophets: Interviews 1999-2023; Haibun de la Serna, A Time Before Slaughter/Pig War: & Other Songs of Cascadia and American Sentences. He writes an American Sentence every day & lives in Rainier Beach.

SAM Performs: Maiden Voyage
7 - 9:45 pm: Third Floor Knudsen Family Room
Join Maiden Voyage as they curate a hi-fi listening experience based on works currently on view in American Art: Stories We Carry.

Maiden Voyage is a traveling event series dedicated to intentional listening in high fidelity. Helmed by Jason Justice and Justin Cayou, two longtime fixtures of Seattle's vibrant music and nightlife communities, Maiden Voyage fuses music, community and design into a listening experience inspired by the jazz kissa culture of Japan. As in those intimate spaces, listeners give their total attention to the music; the music is played on vinyl records; and the records are played on superlative audio equipment. A Maiden Voyage event may span classic and contemporary jazz, soul, ambient or electronic. Sessions are intended to educate, inspire and transport listeners beyond the bounds of the everyday. The result is a uniquely stimulating respite from the haze and noise of modern life conjured through music, savored individually and shared communally.
