SAM Skills: Figure Drawing with Studio Paradiso

Dec 2 2023

Seattle Art Museum

Chase Open Studio

3 PM – 5 PM

Hone your technical skills and join us for figure drawing classes at SAM!

This series is facilitated by Wyatt Landis with the help of model, Kirsten McCory. Participants will explore artworks and artists on view in SAM's collection in addition to learning about variations in lighting, poses, and techniques. Each session will be based on a different theme inspired by an artist or piece of work. Participants will create original art while drawing from a costumed model. Sessions will begin with a walk through the galleries to study an artist's work and explore how a specific artwork was made. Each month will feature a different technique, material choices, creative costumes, and interpretive pose as our focus.

This life-drawing series is open to anyone interested in working from life, regardless of experience level. Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials. A limited amount of dry media and paper will be made available alongside a limited number of easels, drawing boards, and tabletop surfaces.

This series is presented in partnership with Studio Paradiso, a small art school for students of all levels established in January 2014.

Classes are scheduled for the following days: 12/2, 12/16, 1/6, 1/20, 2/3, and 2/17.

If you require ADA accommodations, please contact our customer service team at Customerservice@SeattleArtMuseum.org or 206.654.3210. Our staff will work with other departments to meet accommodation needs.

This is a ticketed six-week series. Each session includes museum entry to view the artists and artworks that will be discussed prior to drawing.
