SAM Performs: The Balourdet Quartet
Brotman Forum
Join Seattle Chamber Music Society's Balourdet Quartet for a multi-sensory experience where music, art, and the idea of food intertwine. The Balourdet Quartet, who are bonded by a love of shared meals and are named after a French chef, begin with an illuminating lecture on Debussy, followed by a live performance that brings his shimmering sound world to life. Guests are then invited to wander through Farm to Table: Art, Food, and Identity in the Age of Impressionism, an exhibition exploring French artwork that features food and changing modern landscapes, while the quartet performs a rapturous new work from composer Nicky Sohn. They will conclude with Ravel Unraveled, offering new insights into Ravelâs artistry before a culminating performance of his beloved Quartet.
