Join us for a series of talks designed and dedicated to promoting understanding of Asia and the Asian diaspora. Hear from Asian and Asian American artists, writers, business and community leaders, and others engaged with Asia, on their work, ideas, experiences, and impact. Central themes will include arts and culture, policy and business, technology, sustainability, and education. This speaker series is a collaboration between Asia Society Seattle and Seattle Art Museum.
This special fireside chat with Bao Tran, a Seattle-based filmmaker, is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn more about film, community, and identity. We'll hear about his most recent film, The Paper Tigers, an acclaimed martial arts action comedy now streaming on Netflix. Bao will take us through his journey as a filmmaker and discuss the ways Seattle has influences his craft and career. The evening will also reflect on representation in film and media. His previous credits include editing Cho Lon, one of Southeast Asia's highest-budgeted action blockbusters, and Jackpot, Vietnam's official entry to the 2016 Oscars for Best Foreign Film.
