Happening this weekend
SAM Performs: Trevor Band Trio
Trevor, a native of Bend, Oregon, grew up surrounded by music and the outdoors, spending his childhood on a family farm with goats and falling asleep to cello and piano. He started with violin and cello, but when a bass was handed to him in middle school jazz band, he found his true passion. Over the years, Trevor has become a sought-after sideman and bandleader in Denver, Boston, and now Seattle. Heâs won several awards, placed second in the Ron Carter Jazz Bassist competition, and had the honor of performing with artists like Orrin Evans, Anat Cohen, the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, and more.
SAM Creates: Nicho workshop hosted by Raquel Garcia
Join artist Raquel GarcĂa MartĂnez in creating a nichoâa small, handmade shrine traditionally used to honor loved ones or display meaningful images. Using recycled materials like foamboard and found objects, participants will design and decorate their own personal shadow boxes. Raquel is a self-taught artist from Tijuana, now based in Seattle. Her work is rooted in Mexican folk art and reflects themes of culture, identity, and everyday life.
